Hello, I’m Imogen Comrie with another edition of the Economic Calendar. Here’s a closer look at the most important news releases due on Monday, the 11th of November.
The schedule starts early, as the Australian Home Loans for September are out at half past midnight. Housing finance slipped in August, reversing a point 3% gain a month ago.
Euro Zone Investor Confidence for November follows at half past nine. The Index has surprised on the downside for the past two months and now stands at its lowest level in more than a year.
Canadian Housing Starts for October are up next at 1:15 PM GMT. September data came in slightly better than expected, suggesting ongoing recovery in the Canadian construction sector.
New Zealand Card Spending for October will be available at quarter to ten in the evening. Spending dropped in September as an increase in hospitality and durables spending was reversed by a decline in consumables and apparel spending.
Two news releases regarding the Japanese economy are out at 11:50, including the Current Account Balance for September. Current account surplus inched higher in August as a deficit in goods and services was offset by surplus in primary income.
Bank Lending for October is out at the same time. The annual growth accelerated in September from 2.2% in August.
UK BRC Retail Sales for October follow at one minute past midnight. A strong drop in clothing, footwear and food sales pushed the total lower in September.
National Australia Bank Business Survey for October is due at half past midnight. The Index has been falling for the past two months, but it still remains in the positive territory.
Japanese Consumer Confidence Index for October comes at 5 AM. The Index lost 1.3 points in September, suggesting the Japanese economy still feels the impact of the April sales tax hike.
And the preliminary estimate of Japanese Machine Tool Orders for October conclude the schedule at six. The total number of orders continued to grow in September, driven by a 17.2% monthly increase in domestic orders.
So these are the news releases to watch this Monday. We’ll be returning with the next overview of key releases for Tuesday. See you then.
