It’s 3 PM GMT on this month’s opening trading day, so let’s see where the 8 major currencies stand. Dollar/Yen has been heading higher during most of the session and the pair has gained close to 1%, which is the day’s top move. US ISM Manufacturing PMI report was strong and Greenback trades on top of the table, a day ahead of the Fourth of July Holiday. Markets are closed in Canada for a national holiday on this Monday and Loonie Dollar is mostly higher. Swiss data was positive – contraction of retail sales slowed down, Manufacturing PMI jumped above the 60 level and Swissie is even with the Ozzy Dollar. Australian building approvals disappointed, but a positive China Manufacturing PMI report was a bullish factor for the commodity currency. Final Euro Zone manufacturing PMI was revised higher and Single currency is just slightly up from the Sterling, which took a hit as UK Manufacturing PMI disappointed. New Zealand Dollar is up only from the Japanese Yen, which wraps up the advancers and decliners table as safe-haven flows have dried up. Let’s move on to longer term performance charts, where Canada/Yen shows the top gain over a week and it’s up by 3.88%. Dollar/Canada has depreciated the most and it’s 2.19% in the red. Canada/Yen leads the monthly bulls table as well and it’s the only pair that’s up by more than 6%. Dollar/Canada shows the top decline and it’s almost 4% in the red.
