Today we saw the first ever rate increase announced by the Bank of England on Twitter, so let’s see where this puts the 8 majors. Sterling/Australia was trending South during most of the day, dropping further following the monetary policy announcement to post the day’s top move, which is a drop of 1.67%. There’s a number of majors trading in a close range and Ozzy Dollar is the most bullish one as Australian trade surplus and building approvals both jumped. New Zealand Dollar is just point 12% South of the top advancer. Swiss consumer climate and retail sales both remained in the red, but Swissie is mostly higher, trailed closely by the Loonie Dollar. Final Euro Zone Manufacturing PMI was revised slightly lower and Euro is followed closely by the Japanese Yen. US jobless claims report surprised on the upside slightly, but Buck is up only from the most bearish major, which is the Sterling. Bank of England did hike interest rate for the first time in many years, but they also indicated this might be the last increase for a while now. New Zealand/Swissie has had a bullish run over the past week and the pair is up by 1.24%. Sterling/New Zealand leads the decliners section with a slide of 1.47%. Euro/New Zealand has appreciated the most over the past month and the pair is 2.62% in the green, followed closely by a couple more pairs. 3.39% is the top decline and it’s posted by New Zealand/Greenback.
