Forex Basics - Spreadbetting Platforms
Spreadbetting is a different type of gambling that introduces and new dimension where the wager is based on the accuracy of the outcome as opposed to just a straightforward win or lose. Traditionally this was applied to sports betting so the gambler could bet on the outcome of something like a football match where they could bet on the result being within a certain range (or spread).

However for a variety of beneficial reasons, the fastest growth in spreadbetting in recent years has been within the financial markets. One of the primary reasons for this has been the beneficial tax advantages that come with it because spreadbetting in the UK is officially viewed as gambling and therefore has several tax advantages as a result. Also there is no need to invest any capital if you're trading Forex using a spreadbetting platform because, instead of buying or selling a currency, you are simply trading Forex using a bet as the instrument to execute your trade.
It's for these main reasons that spreadbetting has become such a popular tool for trading Forex in the UK that the spreadbetting companies now actually make the majority of their revenues from Forex and only a small portion from sports betting.
However, spreadbetting has its dangers if not controlled properly and can leave the trader exposed to significant risks and losses. Therefore it's important that you understand the consequences of using spreadbetting and how to use it to execute your trades whilst using the available controls to ensure your exposure is managed at all times at a manageable and affordable level.
This can be done simply using stop losses which are designed to limit the trader's loss at a specific level should the market move against them so that with each trade the trader knows what their maximum loss could be before they enter the trade.
As long as you understand the risks and how to manage those risk it is sound advice to use spreadbetting as a platform for executing their trades (provided you are in a jurisdiction that allows it) so you benefit from all of the advantages of doing so.
