The unemployment rate has stood at the same 11-year-low level for the past 2 months. The final reading of Euro Zone December CPI follows at 10. The initial estimate suggests the annual inflation has jumped by half a percentage point, although much of the gain comes from higher energy prices. Coming up next at 1:30 PM GMT is the closely watched US Consumer Price Index for December. The annual inflation has been rising for the past 4 months and now stands at its highest level in more than 2 years. US Industrial Production for December is out at 2:15. Output dropped more than expected in November, reversing a point 1% gain the previous month. Bank of Canada will release its latest Monetary Policy Statement at 3, and it is of high importance to Loonie Dollar traders. The last 12 meetings have brought no interest changes, so traders are paying more attention to the policy makers’ economic forecasts. Fed Chair Janet Yellen will be giving a closely watched speech at 8, speaking on the topic of monetary policy and its goals in San Francisco. New Zealand Performance of Manufacturing Index for December will be available at half past 9. The Index has been declining for the past 2 months but it remains well in the positive territory. New Zealand Building Permits for November follow 15 minutes later. The number of permits rebounded in October, following 3 months of decline. UK RICS House Price Balance for December is out at one minute past midnight. The November data surprised on the upside as the Index reached its highest level since the Brexit vote. And the Aussie Dollar traders may want to watch the Australian Labour Report for December, which comes at half past midnight. The previous report was a bit of a mixed bag as employment did increase, but the unemployment rate remained unchanged.
