Let’s see which news releases could move the currency markets on Thursday, the 16th of February. This is the Economic Calendar. The closely watched weekly update on US Jobless Claims is out at 1:30 PM GMT. Initial claims dropped by 12 thousand during the week ending February 4, whereas the continuing claims went up by 15 thousand during the week ending January 28. Philadelphia Fed Business Outlook for February comes at the same time. The Index has been surprising on the upside for the past 2 months, and it now stands at its highest level in 2 years. And US Building Permits for January will be available at this time as well. The number of permits remained unchanged in December, but the number of actual housing starts did grow by 11.3%. New Zealand Performance of Manufacturing Index for January follows at 9:30 in the evening. The Index saw no change in December, but it does remain well in the positive territory. And New Zealand fourth quarter Retail Sales are scheduled at 9:45. Sales continued growing in the third quarter, but at a much slower pace than the 2.2% gain the previous quarter.
